Connect an AI client to Cactus

Cactus answers questions about your product from your own sources and cites each answer. Over MCP, the way AI clients connect to tools, you ask it from inside Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, Codex or Claude Code.

For your team

One address reaches every product on your team. The first time a client uses it, you sign in with your Cactus account and see what it sees.

The address

https://mcp.heycactus.ai/mcp

Terminal

It adds the server for every project on this machine.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user cactus https://mcp.heycactus.ai/mcp

What a public help site serves

Each address below is live on our own help site.

For your customers

Each published Help Center has its own address, one per product. Anyone can add it to the same six clients with no sign-in and no account, and it answers from published pages only.

The address

https://mcp.heycactus.ai/p/<product name>/mcp

The name is your Help Center's, the part before .heycactus.ai. The owner finds the exact address in Cactus under AI clients in the top navigation, with a button for each client.

What each tool can see

Same address either way. What it shows depends on who asks.

  • Signed in with a Cactus account

    • Your pages, including the ones only your team can read

    • The map of your code

    • Past conversations with your customers

    • Investigations Cactus has run for you

  • Not signed in

    • Published pages from that one product

    • Nothing that is not published

Answers can be wrong

Every answer links to the page or file it came from, so you can open what Cactus read. It is still a model reading text and can be wrong or out of date, so check anything that matters before you act on it.
